Two new book reviews have been added

Date: 30 June 2010
The reviews are of Martin Seligman's book Learned Optimism: How to Change Your Mind and Your Life, and two books that were edited and partly written by Dale McGowan - Parenting Beyond Belief: On Raising Ethical, Caring Kids Without Religion and Raising Freethinkers: A Practical Guide for Parenting Beyond Belief.

The Deliberate Living course has been extended

Date: 13 June 2010
In addition to being updated with what I've learned over the past few months, the course is now offered in three different formats - a day-long condensed version, a complete version that is presented over the period of twelve weeks, one hour per week, and a flexible correspondence version that can be presented over e-mail. Please contact me if you are interested in the course and wish to find out more about it.

A new article has been written: Sacred

Date: 19 April 2010
I've recently watched an undercover video that exposes the Chinese fur farming practices. I thought that factory farming was bad, but this was an order of magnitude worse. It left me so distraught that I ended up writing this article. I did my best to remain true to the spirit of my work, and this website in particular, by making the article constructive rather than just a rant. It wasn't easy.

A new article has been written: Purposefully Adopting Beliefs – Part 2

Date: 1 April 2010
The second instalment in the belief saga, the article examines what can be done to purposefully adopt abstract, aggregate beliefs that are embedded inside our worldviews. The discussion stands on its own, though it makes more sense when read as a continuation of the article Purposefully Adopting Beliefs – Part 1.

A new web page has been added: Courses

Date: 31 January 2010
It lists the courses that I offer and provides detailed information about them. The only course available at this stage has been adapted from my book Living Deliberately. It strives to accomplish the same goal as the book - derive a life philosophy that embodies your highest ideals and offers guidance in every situation - only in an interactive setting. This is a very important new dimension to my work and one that I'm extremely excited about!

A new article has been written: Purposefully Adopting Beliefs – Part 1

Date: 28 December 2009
This is the first article in a series of three that discusses beliefs, with the eye on finding ways to make their adoption deliberate and goal-driven. I originally tried to compress the discussion of the subject into a single article, but it turned out to be much too cryptic and difficult to follow due to the space constraints. The other two articles should follow over the next couple of months.

The Awakening Earth proposal has been extended

Date: 8 November 2009
Some of the readers have found it difficult to get a clear sense of what the proposal is about. As a result, I've decided to extend section 4.2 Information Content with an example. Hopefully this makes the somewhat abstract ideas presented in the proposal more concrete.

A new proposal has been written: Awakening Earth

Date: 4 November 2009
It examines what it means for a society to be self-reflective. It then proposes that an organisation be established for the purpose of bringing about such a change in our society and suggests specific goals and activities that would assist in this endeavour.

The Raw Vegan Diet proposal has been extended

Date: 20 October 2009
At a reader's request, I've extended the proposal to include nutritional analysis of the food. The analysis is nutrient-centric - it starts from the nutrients that our bodies need and explores how a raw vegan diet might be able to provide them. It doesn't attempt to list every food or nutrient, but serves more as an overview of what one can expect nutritionally from the diet.

A new proposal has been written: Raw Vegan Diet

Date: 9 October 2009
The purpose of the proposal is to describe the diet that I've recently adopted, for the benefit of people who may be willing to consider making a similar change in their own lives. The diet consists entirely of non-animal ingredients, most of which are eaten raw. The effectiveness of the diet is also discussed.
